1. Tell us about yourself and your profession.
My name is Natalia Dobrokvashina. I’m a photographer and dancer in duet “VG&7” from Russia.
As a child, I dreamed of becoming a pianist, archaeologist, ballerina, Formula 1 pilot, and eventually became an economist.
Still, creativity took over.
I am a photographer since 2018 year.
Now I’m doing what I love, devoting myself to it all.
Photography and dancing are my life, my air!
When I photograph, I ask you to be at ease and relaxed.
After all the camera “catches” absolutely everything.
I like it when each photo session is different from the previous one.
I don’t have templates. I approach each shoot individually.
I can be inspired by a photo shoot in a magazine, a music video, a film, a person…
Every time I create a story in the frame!
By the way I didn’t choose one direction in photo. I photograph in several genres: fashion photography, subject and food photography, family and children photography, street photography and architecture.
2. What are the pros and cons of your work?
Hmmm… If we talk about the pros in my work, then I can say that my work is completely connected with creativity, the creation of beauty, the opportunity to realize myself in my work and convey my vision of the world to people.
You always have a possibility to learn something new, to meet interesting, unusual and talented people.
For me photography it is a synonym of word “freedom”. I am happy to be a photographer!
Cons… Why are there only 24 hours in a day? Often inspiration comes closer to the night, especially if it’s some kind of creative project. I remember when we filmed one creative project together with my daughter really at night. And I really didn’t want to go to bed, but I wanted to create…
3. What do you like to do in your free time?
As I answer previously — I love to dance. Favorite style in dance is K-pop music. Me and my daughter are learning choreography, creating costumes and making MV.
I’m happy and proud that me and my daughter are more friends or sisters then mother and daughter.
We have the same interests, music taste…
When I’m dancing with my daughter in a duet I feel that I live and everything that I feel in dance is incredible!
Besides dancing I love to read books, to play piano, to draw and going outside. I love mountains and seaside, love to drive car and listen music.
4. Do you have your own motto, mission?
Mine motto? For me there are no words — difficult, impossible.
And I can say for sure that age is really just numbers in the passport! The main thing is how you feel in your soul!
Mission…
I want to share my vision of beauty with people, I want to show them their beauty and uniqueness. After all, every person is different!
5. Where should a beginner start if they want to follow in your footsteps?
For beginner I want to say — choose what you really love, listen to your heart and don’t box yourself in.
Learn from the best and don’t be afraid to make mistakes.
I would recommend watching more backstage videos to see the making process. Of course, you need to learn the basics of photography.
And the main point… It doesn’t matter what technique you have at the beginning, you create the picture, not the camera!
